Professor Yi is the Coordinator of Music Education and the Director of the Vanguard University Concert Orchestra.  Her teaching areas include Music for Elementary Schools, Music for Secondary Schools and Aural Music Theory. Mildred received a Masters of Music in Instrumental Conducting from San Francisco State University, where she worked as a Graduate Assistant for the University Symphony Orchestra. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music from the University of California at Berkeley. In addition, she pursued graduate studies in Education at University of California, Los Angeles, and Fresno State University.  Upon earning a California Single Subject Teaching Credential in Music, Mildred taught secondary and elementary school music for seven years.  Most prominently, she held the position of Instrumental Music T­­eacher at the Performing and Fine Arts Academy at Natomas Charter School in Sacramento, where she taught beginning to advanced levels of Orchestra for grades 6 through 12.

At her church, Mildred Yi has directed children, youth and adult choirs, and has served as a pianist for traditional and contemporary worship services.  Furthermore, she has performed piano in chamber music groups at various universities and has maintained a private and group piano lesson studio.
